Collage Artist Claudine Hellmuth, Crafts with Martha Stewart

Collage artist Claudine Hellmuth demonstrated how to make her popular Sitting Pretty figures – a blend of metal, fabric and old photos – on the Martha Stewart TV Show on Sept. 12.

Orlando, FL, September 21, 2007 --(PR.com)-- During the 9-minute segment, Claudine and Martha explored ways to create unique art pieces using family photos. A highlight of the show was when Claudine presented Martha with custom “Sitting Pretty” figures of the host’s three miniature donkeys Rufus, Clyde and Dilly, who had made their TV debut earlier that week.

A “beautiful, beautiful book,” is how Martha described Claudine’s popular how-to book - Collage Discovery Workshop: Beyond the Unexpected (F+W Publications $22.95) - holding the book to the camera so her millions of viewers could see the cover.

“The power of being on the show was amazing,” Claudine said afterwards. “Within a couple of hours my books had soared to number 1 on Amazon’s papercraft books list, orders were flooding in for custom artwork and my e-mail was jammed with messages from people as far away as Thailand, Australia, Italy and the Netherlands.”

Claudine, 32, of Orlando, Fla., uses a myriad of materials to create her popular, personalized collage sketches and canvases. She incorporates vintage fabrics, retro images and personal photos from her customers – everything from couples to families and pets. Her signature pen and ink details have made the pieces popular gifts among online shoppers and celebrities.

Claudine, who graduated with a BFA from the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, D.C., has also appeared on several HGTV programs, produced her own set of how-to videos and authored collage and craft books. She has taught art seminars throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
