SGS Informs on Greenland's Plan to Amend Legislation on Food Contact Materials and Articles

Greenland recently amended its legislation on food contact materials and articles. The amendments are essentially similar to those already established in the European Union. The new law entered into force on 15 October 2013.

Hong Kong, China, December 05, 2013 --(PR.com)-- On 9 October 2013, the "Notice of Greenland on Food Contact Materials" of 26 September 2013 was published in the Denmark Official Journal Lovtidende A (1). The Notice essentially implemented aspects of the food contact legislation from the European Union (EU).

Food Contact Materials and Articles – Greenland Food Safety Legislation

The legislation includes those from:

I. Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 ‘on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food’

II. Food Contact Plastics Regulation (EU) No 10/2011

III. Active and intelligent materials

IV. Recycled plastics Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 and amendment Regulation (EC) No 282/2008

V. Regenerated cellulose films

VI. Ceramic, enameled and glassware articles
