Construction of Penrose Village Phase II Now Complete

36 new affordable housing units now available in Detroit.

Detroit, MI, December 22, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Toledo-based general contractor, The Douglas Company, has completed the second phase of construction on the Penrose Village community in Detroit, Michigan. The project added 36 additional new homes and a “farmhouse” to the existing 36 home affordable housing community built by The Douglas Company in 2006.

This second phase totaled nearly 47,900 square feet at a contract value of $8 million. The new townhomes include amenities such as energy saving heating/cooling systems, washer/dryer units, full kitchens with appliances, full basements, detached garages, central air conditioning and security alarm systems. The development also gained a community farmhouse that will allow residents to interact with nature, and each other, by encouraging planting of fruits and vegetables as well as their favorite flowers.

The Penrose Village II project, owned by Penrose Village II Limited Dividend Housing Association Limited Partnership (LDHALP) continued a relationship with The Douglas Company that spans over 25 years. The project began in the spring of 2013 and took just over 9 months to complete.
