FiXiT Launches "Fix Female Felines" with Grant from the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation

Grant Will be Used for Promotion to Provide Spay/Neuter to "Fix" Female Felines for Just $25

Virginia Beach, VA, January 10, 2014 --(PR.com)-- This month, FiXiT, an organization dedicated to ending the overpopulation of animals, announced that GetYourFix.org has hit the landmark of 5,000 cats profiled on the site since it launched in March 2011. There are nearly 200 new cat profiles created each month, making up 47 percent of new pet profiles, by caregivers that need financial assistance to get them spayed or neutered. More than half of these cat profiles are females, which will soon become a risk for unplanned breeding.

GetYourFix was created to introduce pet “Owners” in need to “Sponsors” who want to help by funding a spay/neuter surgery. This is a Free service sponsored by the FiXiT Foundation in order to connect people to help animals. GetYourFix is the FiXIT program designed to make zero companion animal-euthanasia a reality by targeting one of the main obstacles for caregivers to fix their animals - the expense.

It is estimated that 50 percent of kitten litters are accidental and unplanned. In effort to reduce accidental breeding, FiXiT is launching a new GetYourFix promotion: Fix Female Felines. With this limited-time offer, a cat spay can be sponsored for just $25. By acting now, we can prevent shelters from becoming flooded with homeless kittens in the spring. About FiXiT

FiXiT is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit based in Norfolk, VA that was formed in response to the death of millions of cats and dogs every year in U.S. shelters. Current low cost spay/neuter efforts have placed us on a plateau with minimal change in the rate of euthanasia over the past 10 years. They knew that a new strategy was needed to stop this needless loss of life, one that was informed by strategic research and
one that responds to the different perspectives of pet owners across the country. Visit http://fixit-foundation.org to learn more.
