The WPO is a nonprofit membership organization for a diverse group of multimillion women owned businesses who have guided their businesses to at least $2 million in gross annual sales or $1 million for a service-based business. With over 1,100 members and 72 chapters located throughout the nation and in Canada, the WPO has experienced rapid growth since its inception. Local WPO chapters are coordinated by a professional facilitator and meet monthly to share business expertise and experience in a confidential and collaborative setting. This year is the organization’s 10th anniversary.
“Women business owners are rapidly changing the face of business in Seattle and across the country,” said WPO president Marsha Firestone. “More than ever, women entrepreneurs are recognizing each others successes and connecting as peers. We are very excited about our newest chapter and the resources WPO brings to accelerating their growth.”
“Experience and training provide me with the confidence to assist our clients with tax and accounting planning and compliance issues on a daily basis, but dealing with the management, personnel, and political issues inherent in running a CPA firm is a different matter entirely,” said Cynthia Hutson Petrie, principal of Hellam, Varon & Co. Inc. P.S. “The women of WPO have offered support, laughter, and empathy, along with solid advice and guidance regarding organizational and management issues. Women execs from the Eastside will now have a chance to give and receive the same mutual support in a location closer to home.”
