The first, Aqwastream Refill and Information Station, or ARIS-32-1, was installed December 2, 2013 in the Sun Devil Fitness Center at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.

The station is ADA compliant, and includes state-of-the art filtration technology without water waste that:
• Provides superior throughput and cartridge life with 3M Integrated Membrane Pre-activated Carbon Technology (IMPACT);
• Includes a built-in bacteria inhibitor;
• Reduces up to 99.99% of common, water-borne heterotrophic bacteria by membrane filtration as tested by 3M Purification, Inc.; and
• Lessens sediment and abrasive, hard particles.

Consumers and passersby view non-stop, engaging, green content on the 32” display. The messaging can be changed on the ARIS-32-1 screen instantly so specific information is shown at designated times to hard-to-reach, college students.

Students can create their own, green-related messaging to be included in the digital content on the stations. There are currently two videos running on the Pilot station that represent ASU student sustainability entrepreneurship.
• Access real-time data with a total systems solution.
The ARIS-32-1 machine has sensors in it to monitor and record real-time data about station use, operating efficiencies, messaging, and more. It transmits this information via a cellular network to a software application located on a central server. The ARIS-32-1 automatically reports if the machine has been moved or tampered with and when it needs servicing so it runs around the clock without interruption. This remote systems management lessens the carbon footprint made by unnecessary, service calls.
