Inaugural GAIN Conference to Kick Off in Tallahassee

Business and professional development event to help African-American entrepreneurs, executives and professionals break barriers, exceed limitations and create strategic growth begins November 2, 2007

Tallahassee, FL, September 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Registration is now available online for the inaugural Growth and Influence Now (GAIN) Conference, Tallahassee’s only combined business and professional development conference geared toward the African-American business community. The conference will be held November 2, 2007 at the Ramada Conference Center in Tallahassee.

The conference theme is “The Leading Edge: Breaking Barriers, Exceeding Limitations, Creating Strategic Growth” and is expected to draw a wide range of entrepreneurs, executives and other professionals from Leon and surrounding counties.

“The significance of this conference is that it bridges the gap between personal and organizational achievement in a way that I haven’t seen done yet in Tallahassee,” said Mikal J. Caldwell, President and CEO of Kingdom Consulting Group, a local marketing consultation and strategic planning firm, which organized the conference. “Typically, conferences such as this either deal with personal development or organizational growth. This conference is designed to speak to both areas. The attendees will gain valuable information from the workshops and keynote speakers, as well as the opportunity to network with other black professionals in their chosen field. It is truly an investment in their future.”

Conference organizers have worked hard to make sure that the day-long event provides valuable information and networking opportunities for attendees. The conference begins with a breakfast networking reception, followed by the first workshop, “The Art of Professionalism,” which will be facilitated by Marion McGee, a business development and image consultant based in Tallahassee.

The next workshop has the unusual title of “Umm…What Do You Do Again?” This workshop on clarity in marketing and communications is facilitated by Carmita F. McCall, President and CEO of Brightside International, a graphic design and branding firm. The final workshop will be “Mastering the Long View,” and will be led by Mikal J. Caldwell, President and CEO of Kingdom Consulting Group.

In addition to the workshops, there will also be a keynote luncheon. The keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Octavia S. Caldwell, CEO of ROC Consultants from Washington, D.C. Ms. Caldwell is widely recognized in the non-profit sector for her efforts in social entrepreneurship and has provided organizational development, grant management, and technical support for the public and private sector for over 36 years. Her clients have included federal agencies and private non-profit organizations and she is in great demand as a featured speaker.

Registration for the conference is $125.00 and includes all workshops, conference materials, the opening breakfast, the keynote luncheon, and a seat at the First Annual GAIN Awards Banquet, a companion event taking place on November 1st at the University Center Club. Separate registration to only attend the conference is available as well. There are a limited number of spaces available, which was a deliberate move by conference organizers to increase the effectiveness of the workshops and the networking potential for attendees.
