VisualDx Among the “Ideas that Work” at iHealth 2014

Mobile App Improves Health Care by Quickly and Accurately Diagnosing Disease

Rochester, NY, January 24, 2014 --(PR.com)-- VisualDx, a mobile app and online resource that is used by thousands of doctors to accurately diagnose and treat disease, is among a select group of innovations chosen for their ability to overcome “real-world challenges in health care” that will be featured in the “Ideas that Work” competition at the iHealth 2014 conference Jan. 30-Feb. 1 in Orlando, FL.

VisualDx is helping more than 1,500 hospitals and large clinics, including the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, overcome the real-world challenge of quickly and accurately diagnosing disease and determining the correct treatments. At more than half the nation’s medical schools – including Harvard, Yale, UCLA and New York University – VisualDx is changing the way the next generation of physicians learn how to practice medicine.

VisualDx is available directly on the web, integrated into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and as a mobile app that works with the iPhone, Android and iPad. It provides immediate access to diagnostic information in critical areas of medicine, including infectious disease, autoimmune disease, dermatology, radiology, ophthalmology, chemical events, STDs, travel medicine, child abuse recognition and more.

“We appreciate the opportunity to highlight the many benefits VisualDx offers to health care professionals and to medical facilities by helping to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatments for their patients,” said Art Papier, MD, CEO of Logical Images, the company that created VisualDx. “Consulting VisualDx would help hospitals, clinics and other health care facilities avoid misdiagnoses, which are the most common and costly of medical errors.”

Developed by physicians, VisualDx relies on nearly 30,000 peer-reviewed images to help ensure the accurate diagnosis of more than 1,300 diseases and conditions. It is scientifically proven to help health care professionals make more accurate diagnoses, and it helps educate and empower patients by providing images and treatment information in a quick and easy-to-use format.

Health care professionals enter a patient’s symptoms, medical history and other information into VisualDx. Based on the information entered, VisualDx quickly delivers a highly accurate list of potential diagnoses, a series of photographs against which to match the patient’s current conditions and the recommended treatments. The provider can then work through the list of possibilities to arrive at the correct diagnosis, explain the process to the patient and decide on the right treatment for each patient.

Those attending iHealth 2014 can see VisualDx in the Exhibition Hall or see Dr. Papier’s presentation during the “Ideas that Work” competition at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31.

“Health care professionals in hospitals, clinics and other facilities may have only minutes to assess and diagnose their patients, and they’re often working with incomplete data,” said Noah Craft, MD, PhD, Logical Images chief medical officer. “VisualDx helps them gather the needed data to speed up the diagnosis and ensure patients receive proper care, are not admitted to the hospital unnecessarily and have reduced lengths of hospital stays. All of this improves patient safety and satisfaction in both the hospital and ambulatory settings.”
