Local Artist Hopes for Steven Seagal in Arizona Governor Race

A local artist hopes Steven Seagal runs for Governor so he can satirize the action star in his superhero comic about current events.

Phoenix, AZ, January 25, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Local comic book artist Russ Kazmierczak, Jr. has made his choice for Arizona's next governor. He believes all signs point to Steven Seagal.

For this year's Amazing Arizona Comic, Kazmierczak has made a Shepard Fairey-style poster, depicting a portrait of Seagal over word "HOPE." Kazmierczak hopes for Seagal's gubernatorial bid because he self-publishes a mini-comic book series satirizing politics and current events in Arizona.

"Seagal has mentioned he's considering it," Kazmierczak explains. "I'll get one issue out of that alone. If he actually runs, I'll have enough material for a year."

Kazmierczak's comic book, "Amazing Arizona Comics," uses real news stories as a backdrop for superhero adventure in Phoenix and around the state. Stories have included Sheriff Arpaio's budgetary controversies, Governor Brewer's public image, and even President Obama's birth certificate investigation.

"If Seagal enters the political arena, especially here, that would be a natural fit," he says.

Kazmierczak's "Hope for Seagal" poster will be on sale alongside issues of "Amazing Arizona Comics" January 24-26 at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con at the Phoenix Convention Center.
