Macklemore’s Thrift Shop Grammys Boosts Trend, Has Thrift Shopping Expert, Entrepreneur Busy with New Thrift Shop Mobile App, Asternotes

Mom entrepreneur and author Ronda Polhill meets mobile needs of thrift and resale consumers and local store owners with Asternotes thrift shopping app as Macklemore’s Grammy wins for Thrift Shop gives thrift shopping top of mind awareness for millions of shoppers.

Phoenix, AZ, January 29, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Many mobile shopping apps serve retail shoppers while ignoring the needs of thrift and resale shoppers. And there are some single purpose thrift shopping apps with features like maps and directories. But when a mom couldn’t find an app to meet many of the needs relevant to thrift shoppers like her, she designed one. Asternotes, a cloud-based mobile app start-up focused on the thrift, resale and secondhand marketplace, launches its all-in-one mobile app suite for thrift shoppers seeking to make money, save money and help our planet at the same time. The eco-friendly mobile app offers mobile couponing and marketing for thrift shop owners on its mobile platform as well.

“Asternotes helps serious thrift shoppers pursue their passion for thrift hunts and unique discoveries at local brick-and-mortar thrift stores with their smartphones,” shares Ronda Polhill, co-founder of the mobile-first app. “The idea for Asternotes originally came to me as an active thrift shopper when my family and I were still in Seattle, WA so although we have never met, I feel a kindred spirit with Seattle’s Macklemore, like he’s my thrift shopping Asterbuddy---in my head,” laughs the mompreneur.

With the inter-app movement design, users can now conveniently: share pictures and video clips of their thrift shopping finds, ask family and friends for pick up or pass up votes and comments, use the algorithm-based recommendation engine, exchange messages within the private social network to resell their item, manage their resale inventory, or plan and then route their day of thrift shopping events with the one-click calendar map.

Asternotes’ new Asterdeals offers an easy mobile coupon system allowing thrift store owners to create and manage unlimited mobile coupon marketing on the thrift shopper-focused platform. “Asterdeals gives resale brands relevant exposure and offers a different, cost-effective way for them to engage with resale consumers, many of whom never leave home without their smart phones,” declares Polhill.

“I think it’s funny when people immediately sing verses of the Thrift Shop song when Asternotes comes up in a conversation,” Polhill says. “I respect Macklemore’s journey and embrace our boot-strapped-underdogs-with-a-fondness-for-thrift-shopping parallels.”

Polhill hopes free downloads of the Asternotes’ app encourages sustainable shopping, inspires users to shop local brick-and-mortar thrift stores more often and reduces used, recyclable clothing in landfills.

Asternotes was founded by mother-daughter duo, Ronda Polhill, author of The R.E.L.I.C.S. Thrift Shopping Method (kindle) and Shalayne Kemp, the sole android developer who used her technical skills to integrate numerous APIs into the complex Asternotes mobile app platform.
