Environmental Source Samplers, Inc. (ESS) will welcome a new air technician in 2014. Jay De Las Alas of the Phillipines has extensive experience with international air testing projects and will be a strong asset to the ESS team.

Wilmington, NC, February 02, 2014 --(PR.com)-- In 2013, ESS owner Mark Looney established an ESS Representative Office for international work in Hanoi, Vietnam. The move was an effort to leverage ESS’s long experience conducting air and emissions testing into the vibrant international market. The move has been successful, with ESS Asia being awarded and successfully completing many air-testing projects in the Southeast Asian region. Now, in 2014, ESS’s domestic office in North Carolina anticipates leveraging this international connection as well, by welcoming a new international air-technician to the United States in 2014. Jay De Las Alas is a Filipino national with a long and impressive stack testing, air-monitoring, and air-quality consulting resume. He is currently employed in a senior role at Berkman Systems, Inc., the largest Filipino environmental consulting firm, which ESS has partnered with for the conduct of RATA testing in Asia.

Jay is the head of environmental monitoring and the head of business development for the monitoring division at Berkman, where he has worked for the past 13 years. He has a B.S. in Business Administration Marketing, and a B.A. in Industrial Design. Prior to his tenure at Berkman, his employment history includes a position as an Air Quality Technician at the URS Corporation. Since joining Berkman, he has risen from Supervising Technician to Operations Supervisor, before taking over as the head of the Environmental Marketing Division. Since 2008 he has acted as Senior Project Manager for a wide variety of emissions testing and air monitoring projects, overseeing all aspects of testing projects for pollutants such as Particulate Matter, Gaseous Criteria Pollutants, Sulfuric Acid Mist, Metals, and VOCs, in addition to regular RATA testing for CEMS systems. He is a member of a number of Filipino emissions testing groups and business organizations, and has received advanced training in isokinetic and gaseous monitoring, ambient monitoring, and many stringent safety training requirements.

Mr. De Las Alas is expected to transition to the ESS American office in Wilmington, North Carolina during late 1st Quarter or early 2nd Quarter of this year. ESS is excited for the opportunity to further leverage its international connections and relationships, in addition to the immense level of air testing and project manager experience Jay will bring to ESS’s ability to serve its clients with accurate, well-managed air-measurement projects, and reliable customer service.
