Selma, AL, September 29, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Future Education Center (FEC), a locally owned tutoring service and teacher supply store, today announced that it has qualified under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 as a Supplemental Education Service Provider (SES) for Dallas, Perry, and Wilcox County Schools and the Selma City School system. The tutoring service, the first of its kind to be offered to local school systems by a local business, will be offered to eligible students at qualifying schools free-of-charge. Students that enroll in the FEC’s SuperStudent Academy SES will be offered approximately 30 one-hour after-school sessions throughout the school year in either Reading and/or Mathematics.

“The qualifying schools that we are allowed to serve this year under the Title I program include Dallas County High, Keith High, and Southside High Schools,” said Garfield Clarke, chief executive officer and Education director. “To determine if your child is eligible for the Future Education Center’s SuperStudent Academy SES tutoring service, parents or students should contact their local school counselor. We will, however, continue to offer our personalized tutoring services for kindergartners through adult learners at our center as well.”

The FEC launched its tutoring service dubbed “SuperStudent Academy” over 15 months ago serving students grades K-12 in all academic areas including preparation for Alabama High School Graduation Exam, the GED, and the ACT and junior college placement exams. The SuperStudent Academy SES (supplemental education service) is tailored under the Title I program to fit the needs of eligible students in Reading and Mathematics. The program will be taught at the qualifying schools from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday by State certified teachers at no more than a one-to-five teacher/student ratio with make-up sessions available on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Future Education Center.

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 provides an opportunity for parents whose children attend a Title I school identified for School Improvement for two or more years, access to free tutoring in the form of supplemental education services. The purpose of the Act is to ensure that all children have fair, equitable, and significant opportunities to obtain a high-quality education and, and at a minimum reach proficiency on Alabama Reading and Mathematics Assessment and/or the Alabama High School Graduation Exam. The Act’s goals are to provide stronger accountability for results, expanded options for parents, and to increase flexibility and local control.

“The Future Education Center along with several other supplemental educational service providers recently participated in our vendor fair,” said Dr. Vicie Larkin, director of Title I Programs for the Dallas County School System, “and, we are pleased to have a local vendor among the choices available to our parents and students under the No Child Left Behind Act.”
