)-- Downplaying angioplasty and pills in favor of a more holistic approach to treating heart disease, Dr. Joel Kahn will present heart-strengthening tips at the 4th annual New York City Vegetarian Food Festival, on Sunday, March 2, in Chelsea.
Kahn is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Medicine, and Clinical Professor of Cardiology at Wayne State University Medical School. He has written over 150 scientific articles, and is a regular contributor on health at www.mindbodygreen.com. Additionally, he is the Reader’s Digest Magazine Holistic Heart Doc columnist, and is a regular commentator on Fox TV.
At the Festival, Kahn said, he will teach listeners how to use “plant-based nutrition, movement, breath work, supplements and detoxification to guide you to heart strength and vitality.” He will also sign copies of his recent best seller, The Holistic Heart Book, published by Reader’s Digest.
Kahn is scheduled to speak on Sunday, March 2, 1:55-3:35 p.m., on the Apple Stage.
Other presenters at the Festival will include cardiologist Dr. Robert Ostfeld, author Steve “Sproutman” Meyerwitz, nutritionist Ashley Koff, and Vegan Radiance blogger Lauren Walls. Approximately 100 vendors will be showing and sampling their wares, including Vega, Nutiva, Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods, and Rescue Chocolate. There will also be musical entertainment, children’s activities, and a raffle benefiting the New York Coalition for Healthy School Food.
The NYC Vegetarian Food Festival will take place 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues).
