Family Practices Nationwide Show Increased Revenues, Improved Patient Care, Better Physician Lifestyle with Medcomsoft® Record

Doctors Valdez, Amos and Burwell Showcase the Interoperable EHR

Atlanta, GA, October 02, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Family physicians at clinics nationwide report that the implementation of MedcomSoft Record (www.medcomsoft.com) increases profitability, improves patient care and enhances quality of life for physicians and staff. Record, a fully interoperable, numerically codified EHR and practice management system, offers a suite of tools which automate a majority of a practice’s clinical and administrative tasks.

Ranked first in KLAS (2007 Mid-Year Report Card, Ambulatory EMR, 1-5 Physicians), MedcomSoft Record 2006 (V 3.0), a CCHIT CertifiedSM Ambulatory EHR for 2006, enables family physicians and their staffs to work more efficiently and effectively. MedcomSoft will release MedcomSoft Record UE (Ultimate Edition), its newest commercial version, at the AAFP Conference.

Recently announced as a coveted Davies Award winner, Alicia V. Valdez, MD, San Antonio, Texas says, "I sought a solution that would help me both as a physician and a business owner, one that would more accurately capture charges for services, bring the billing process in-house and generate immediate improvement in revenues. Within six months of implementation in 2006, I saw significant results, and now we are seeing more patients than ever."

She reports that per-patient billing is up 25 percent, that the practice has much better control over accounts receivable, and staff overtime has dropped off. "What’s more, most days I am home by 6:00 PM, with the flexibility to practice medicine the way I want to," says Dr. Valdez. "Now I can devote more of my time to patients." Using Record, her charting is finished before she leaves the patient exam room, with labs and referrals ordered, prescriptions e-mailed, and the encounter coded and ready for billing.

In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, David Amos, MD, considered retiring after 32 years of family practice. He purchased MedcomSoft Record to decrease the stress of audits, and now he is enjoying practice so much that he may practice for another 10 years.

"My only regret about Record is not having purchased it years earlier," says Dr. Amos. "The clinic’s average billing rate is up over 30 percent and we are using Record to bill electronically instead of outsourcing it to third-party billing companies – generating increased profits."

In Altoona, Pennsylvania, David Burwell, MD, has used MedcomSoft Record since opening Burwell Family Medicine in 2004.

"I am operating with at least one and one-half fewer full time equivalent (FTE) employees than I would be if I were paper-based," says Dr. Burwell. "When you factor in billing, it’s probably closer to two FTEs."

He says that Record also facilitates improved patient care, adding, "Without a doubt, MedcomSoft Record has helped me be a better physician. I have health maintenance alerts set for every patient and I never have to question the dosage of a medication. Information is always accessible."

According to Sami Aita, MD, founder and CEO of MedcomSoft, "Family medicine benefits from MedcomSoft Record for a number of reasons — one of them is the great diversity of the patient populations and diagnoses they see. Family practice physicians are responsible for promoting health and wellness from cradle to grave, and increasingly guidelines for wellness care and chronic disease management will be the standard by which reimbursements are set. The human mind cannot remember every element of a 75-page guideline, but MedcomSoft Record can. It is the ideal system to support them now and in the future."
