Ingram Content Group and Hachette Livre Offer Titles from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Print

La Vergne, TN, March 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Ingram Content Group Inc. today announced a print-on-demand initiative that integrates Hachette Livre's publishing program with Ingram's on-demand print and distribution solutions to make thousands of Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) titles available in print for the first time in the U.S. and abroad.

The BnF (National Library of France) has one of the most unique and substantial collections of content in the world. This year, Hachette Livre and Ingram will make more than 65,000 long forgotten, out of copyright titles available for purchase worldwide. Categories in the collection include art, literature, history, philosophy, religion, medicine, genealogy, spiritualism, and content on Paris, published between the 15th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Through the initiative, more non-English language content will now be available to more readers than ever before.

“Combining a cutting-edge technology like print-on-demand and the best of perennial collections is an exciting venture we are proud to participate in,” said Philippe Lamotte, Head of Publisher Relations and Development of Hachette Livre’s industrial and sales branch.

Titles in the collection are available to order from Ingram and the retail and online outlets that Ingram serves. Books are also discoverable from a dedicated Hachette website http://www.hachettebnf.fr

"Global on-demand print and distribution has created a fundamental shift in the traditional supply chain model, broadening content’s reach and accessibility," said David Taylor, Senior Vice President, Content Acquisition International, Ingram Content Group. "It’s rewarding to know that Ingram can help the BnF and Hachette Livre put more books into readers’ hands worldwide."

Print-on-demand from Ingram allows a library, bookseller, or publisher access to millions of titles immediately. The inventory-free model cuts costs and waste, minimizes returns, can bring new life to books and revive backlist sales, keeping titles in print indefinitely.

The BnF collections include more than 33 million books and printed documents, manuscripts, prints, photographs, maps and plans, scores, coins, medals, sound documents, video and multimedia documents in all disciplines, whether intellectual, artistic or scientific. The library adds close to 760,000 documents to its collections each year from legal deposit, acquisitions and donations. In addition, its Gallica digital library program includes an additional 2.5 million documents that can be accessed digitally.
