Prosperity, LLC Financial Planner Samantha Endlich Recently Added the Accredited Domestic Partnership Advisor℠ or ADPA® to Her List of Professional Credentials

This cutting-edge certification is granted by the College for Financial Planning and requires a rigorous course of study.

Danbury, CT, March 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Prosperity, LLC financial planner Samantha Endlich recently added the Accredited Domestic Partnership Advisor℠ or ADPA® to her list of professional credentials. She already holds the Accredited Wealth Management Advisor℠ designation and has a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.

This cutting-edge certification is granted by the College for Financial Planning and requires a rigorous course of study addressing specific financial strategies, challenges and opportunities for same-sex couples or heterosexual couples who have chosen not to marry – including retirement planning (IRAs, taxes, life insurance, workplace retirement plans), wealth transfers both during life and after death, federal taxation issues and opportunities, healthcare benefit options, Social Security, Medicare, pension plans, annuities, estate and gift planning, relationship issues, as well as planning for financial and medical end-of-life needs.

"Prosperity prides itself on being a personal, all-inclusive firm. We already work with a number of same-sex couples and couples who have been in long-term relationships but have chosen not to get married, but this new designation clearly shows our commitment to educating ourselves and our clients on the unique financial planning issues and opportunities that exist for this demographic,” said Kristina TenEyck, CFP® one of the four founding partners of Prosperity, LLC.

Samantha Endlich’s certification comes on the heels of the June 2013 U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in the United States v. Windsor case. The Defense of Marriage Act, which made it impossible for same-sex couples to be considered “married” under Federal law, ensured same-sex couples would not be entitled to such benefits as filing a joint tax return, taking the marital deduction in estate transfers, and being entitled to spousal and widow Social Security benefits.

“Now, same-sex couples whose marriages are recognized in their states are entitled to the same rights as heterosexual couples. With that change, I know families may be confused about what rights they have, what benefits they are entitled to, what their individual states allow, and how this will impact their children. And that is exactly what I am here to help our clients figure out. I believe every person is entitled to honest and professional financial planning advice – regardless of their sexual orientation or marital status. And now, with the ADPA® designation, I am able to identify specific opportunities these families may have, understand challenges they may face, and together we can plan out and execute the best course of action for their financial life, their goals and their family," states Endlich.

Endlich strongly suggests that same-sex couples or heterosexual couples who have chosen not to get married meet with a financial planner to ensure their specific financial planning concerns and needs are going to be addressed. “Even with the changes that have taken place in the past year with regards to DOMA, same-sex couples need to take steps to protect their assets and plan for the future – both for themselves, their partners and their children. From the basics of identifying how you each financially contribute to the relationship to more complicated matters such as who has the right to make financial decisions on your behalf. Clearly, there are several very important subjects that need to be addressed.”

A graduate of Cornell University, Samantha worked in corporate revenue management, pricing strategy and executive compensation analysis before joining Prosperity in 2011. In addition to her corporate experience, Ms. Endlich has obtained her FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations, which are held through Commonwealth Financial Network, and is licensed to sell both life and health insurance.
