Tara Onthank Receives 2014 Women in Business Award from Triangle Business Journal

Raleigh, NC, March 28, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Rising Sun Pools and Spas has announced that co-owner Tara Onthank has been named a winner in Triangle Business Journal’s 2014 Women in Business Awards. Each year, the publication profiles Triangle women who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and entrepreneurial qualities, as well as a commitment to community service. This year, judges selected Onthank as one of 25 winners from more than 100 entries. Onthank, along with other honorees, will be recognized during a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 7 at the Raleigh Marriott City Center in downtown Raleigh.

Tara became a co-owner of Rising Sun Pools and Spas, along with siblings Michael Vassallo and Gina daRoza, more than a decade ago. She has grown the company’s profitability exponentially, helping Rising Sun Pools & Spas triple in size recently. Tara remains highly involved in the local community as she volunteers on the Wake County Board of Education and Safe Kids North Carolina, a statewide safety program working to reduce and prevent accidental childhood injuries from birth through age 14. In addition, she is a member of the Alliance for Main Street Fairness (AMSF), a coalition dedicated to ensuring sales tax laws treat businesses equally.
