Green on the Green Festival Celebrates Its Fifth Anniversary May 3, Offering Visitors a Chance to “Go Green”

Free One-Day Community Festival in Worthington, Sponsored by Big Green Head, Green Energy Ohio and Interfaith Power and Light, Features a Special Screening of Award-Winning Documentary, “Chasing Ice”

Columbus, OH, April 05, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Today, Big Green Head, a company helping businesses, schools and communities set goals to reduce their impact on the environment, announced the date of its fifth annual Green on the Green festival, which will take place May 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. As part of this year’s festival, Big Green Head, in collaboration with Green Energy Ohio and Interfaith Power and Light, will screen the award-winning film, Chasing Ice.

“We’re very excited to be celebrating our fifth year of demonstrating how being a steward of the environment can be fun, interesting and even cost effective,” said Karen Ferris, executive director, Green on the Green, and founder of Big Green Head. “Our objective is always to make this an enjoyable experience for the public while helping them learn more about ‘green’ options.”

Green on the Green’s goal is to give visitors a sampling of ways to “go green.” In addition to eco-friendly vendors, entertainment and food, this year’s festival will host a special screening of the Sundance film Chasing Ice, an award-winning documentary that tells the story of acclaimed environmental photographer James Balogone’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. The film has won numerous awards, including the Excellence in Cinematography Award at the Sundance Film Festival and the award for Best Documentary from The Environmental Media Association.

New to the festival this year is the Renewable Energy Green, sponsored by Green Energy Ohio and Interfaith Power and Light. Also new this year is the Passport to Green raffle, which encourages attendees to visit a variety of booths so that they may register for the opportunity to win a gift basket to be raffled off during the event.

Other highlights of Green on the Green include:
· Household electronics drop-off: Spring clean and recycle anything that plugs in or takes a charge
· Electric car ride and drive : Come on out and experience one of several electric cars including the Tesla.
· Cooking demo with Chef Jeff Lindemeyer from Cameron’s American Bistro: Chef Jeff will demonstrate cooking with seasonal ingredients from the Worthington Farmers Market.
· A unique eco-friendly shopping experience offering everything from organic and fair-trade clothing, coffee and chocolates to handcrafted jewelry made from repurposed items.
· Organizations educating visitors about native plant and animal conservation.
· Exhibits, kids' activities and delicious food.
