Crowdsourcing Initiative Launched by Eastern National for Book Profiling the Signers of the Declaration of Independence

Fort Washington, PA, April 05, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Eastern National is proud to announce a new crowdsourcing initiative through the popular website Kickstarter.com, to fund a new edition of the only National Park Service publication that profiles the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence.

If the project is fully funded, Eastern National plans to revitalize the design of the book and add color illustrations to further engage the reader. First published in 1973 by the National Park Service, The Signers of the Declaration of Independence offers insight into the lives of the signers and encourages the reader to consider the sacrifices that were made by these men for the freedoms all Americans enjoy today. “We are excited at the prospect of utilizing a new platform to generate funding for projects that enhance visitor experiences at national parks,” said Mark Vineburg, Operations Support Manager for Eastern National. “Future crowdsourcing initiatives may also help us to further carry out our mission to provide quality educational products and services to the visitors of America’s national parks.”

Eastern National’s Publications Department has produced over 500 books for the National Park Service since EN’s inception, and the redesign of The Signers of the Declaration of Independence book will be performed in-house, with a scheduled release date of July 2014.

Kickstarter.com was launched in 2009, and according to their website, 5.9 million people have pledged $1 billion, funding 58,000 creative projects.

Eastern National, a not-for-profit cooperating association with the National Park Service and other public trust partners, promotes the public’s understanding of America’s national parks and other public trust partners by providing quality educational experiences, products, and services. Since 1947, Eastern National has donated over $105 million to the National Park Service in the form of direct donations and grants which support vital educational and interpretive programs in America’s national parks.
