New Home School Support Group Formed

BASH is a homeschool group that was formed to serve homeschool families in south San Antonio and surrounding areas.

San Antonio, TX, April 19, 2014 --(PR.com)-- BASH: Bexar/Atascosa Secular Homeschoolers is a new home school group formed to serve home school families in south San Antonio, Von Ormy, Somerset, Poteet, Pleasanton, Jourdanton and everyone in south Bexar and Atascosa counties. This group fills a much needed gap in the home school community and offers many social and educational opportunities. Membership is free while BASH is building and getting underway.

BASH will have their first of weekly park days and socials April 23, 2014. These are open to anyone interested in getting to know the members and founders before becoming full members. Members will enjoy a variety of exclusive benefits including monthly field trips, seminars and meetings, contests and exhibitions, holiday parties and more. A scholarship fund is being established for graduating home schooled seniors and the group is working on obtaining other benefits, discounts and perks.

"There are several wonderful home school organizations throughout San Antonio," says Kathleen Dougherty, President of BASH. "However, none of them were conveniently located so we did not have that ideal combination of location, mission, social outings and educational opportunities. We live south of San Antonio and it is quite a trek to travel to the north side where it seems most groups are established. We decided to build our own home school group and hope there are others in the area who are looking for similar opportunities." To that end, BASH homeschool group is growing quickly.

In addition to location, BASH has other advantages that may appeal to a wider audience. Andrew Sutton, Vice President of BASH states, "We have a lot of planned activities that are unique to the area. We welcome anyone who wants to join in our events. We are all-inclusive and even allow those who are traveling to the area to attend our events as guest members." Mr. Sutton is referring to their unique reciprocal membership program that allows those outside the general service area to join the ranks of membership at no charge, under certain conditions.
