Prince Lobel’s Asya Calixto Named "Up & Coming Lawyer" by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

Boston, MA, May 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Asya Calixto, an intellectual property attorney in Prince Lobel Tye LLP’s Media and First Amendment Law practice group, has been selected as an “Up & Coming Lawyer” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as part of its annual “Excellence in the Law” awards. The designation honors rising stars who have distinguished themselves in the legal community while practicing law for 10 years or less.

“Asya Calixto has a reputation for solving problems with intelligence and common sense, engaging effectively with clients, and tackling her practice with a strong work ethic,” Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly reports in a special supplement inside its April 28, 2014, issue.

Asya joined Prince Lobel in September 2011, and has already developed a practice as a trusted business adviser to media clients. She litigates cases involving trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property issues, and has developed particular expertise in the law of electronic discovery. Among her regular clients are Boston magazine; Family Circle and Parents magazines; the New England Newspaper and Press Association; and the Muckrock.com public records site.

Asya plays a prominent role in the legal and professional community. She founded and leads the Russian-Speaking Lawyers Group and Russian Professionals Group, and is co-chair of the International Intellectual Property Committee of the Boston Bar Association. She has taught legal seminars on native advertising, promotions law, and copyright and fair use for groups ranging from the American Society of Magazine Editors, to the Local Media Association, to Design Exchange Boston.

“Asya is among the most talented young lawyers that I’ve had the pleasure of working with during my 25 years of practice,” said Prince Lobel’s managing partner, Craig M. Tateronis. “She has impressed all of us not only with her intelligence and work ethic, but also with her poise, humility, and unique ability to connect personally with everyone around her. As a result, she has become a go-to lawyer in the firm’s nationally recognized media and intellectual property practice.”

Asya was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and moved to the United States at age 6. She graduated from McGill University with honors in 2008. She is a 2011 graduate of Northeastern University School of Law, where she was Symposium Editor for the Northeastern University Law Journal. At Prince Lobel, she has been entrusted with hiring and supervision of the firm’s law clerks. She lives in Somerville with her husband, Ronald Calixto, who works at a telecommunications startup.

She will be among those honored at Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s awards gala on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel.
