Give Your Cosmetic, Skin Care and Hair Care Formulations Star Appeal with Raw Materials from Bayer MaterialScience

Edison, NJ, May 14, 2014 --(PR.com)-- As fashion meets function, consumers hold their hair care, skin care and cosmetic products to increasingly high standards. They desire hair products that provide strong hold, enabling them to create the latest styles, without stickiness. Cosmetics need to look good and be water resistant, allowing users to maintain their polished look while engaging in a variety of activities. To satisfy these and other consumer demands, manufacturers rely on high-quality raw materials.

Consumers are looking for products that protect their hair from heat and humidity, and can even repair their damaged locks. Fortunately, these attributes are among the many properties offered by Bayer MaterialScience’s latest raw material for hair care treatments. Baycusan® C 1008 is a nonpreservative polymer dispersion designed as a film former that is appropriate for many hair styling or hair care products such as pump sprays, certain aerosol sprays, creams and lotions. The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists’ Suppliers’ Day 2014 (May 13-14) marks the U.S. debut of Baycusan® C 1008 film former.

Thanks to its extraordinary elasticity, Baycusan® C 1008 film former provides strong, long-lasting hold, which enables excellent high-humidity curl retention. Several formulating advantages, such as being easy to handle, ready to use, and allowing for high formulation flexibility when compared to existing hair fixatives, make Baycusan® C 1008 film former stand out from the crowd.

In addition to its Baycusan® C 1008 film former, Bayer MaterialScience will also feature its broader Baycusan® film product line at its booth (#141) during the show.

Skin care and color cosmetics are enhanced by the properties imparted by various grades of Baycusan® film from Bayer. For example, skin care products benefit from the use of Baycusan® C 1000 polyurethane film former, which develops a highly flexible, breathable film that mimics the movement of skin. This film creates a naturally soft feel on the skin without any tightening sensation. Manufacturers of color cosmetics often turn to Baycusan® C 1004 film, because this universal film former is appropriate for use in any type of color cosmetic formulations.

Those attending Suppliers’ Day are welcome to speak with materials experts about these and more grades of Baycusan® film formers at the Bayer booth. Visitors are welcome to stop by Bayer’s booth on Tuesday, May 13, for free in-booth makeovers using products formulated with Baycusan® film raw materials. Attendees participating in the makeovers will receive “before” and “after” photos showing their beauty transformation made possible by Bayer materials.
