Kamuela, HI, June 06, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Hawaii’s history and culture take the spotlight at the King Kamehameha Celebration Parade in Kailua-Kona this June 14, 2014, shared Harold Clarke of the premier Big Island luxury real estate website, LuxuryBigIsland.com.

The parade honors the memory of the first King of Hawaii, Kamehameha, who united the eight islands Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lānai, Kahoolawe, Maui and Hawaii (Big Island). Starting near Royal Kona Resort at 9 am and ending near West Hawaii Today at noon, the event draws crowds from all over the Aloha State to view flamboyant floral arrangements and ornate traditional Hawaiian garments.

“The Kamehameha parade is a wonderful opportunity to be acquainted with Hawaii’s colorful history. People of the Big Island especially look forward to this day which brings families and communities together in celebration of cultural tradition. The day becomes even more special for Big Island residents as the late King Kamehameha is born in North Kohala,” explained Harold.

The parade brings the promise of a visual feast: regal pa’u riders on horseback represent each of the Aloha State’s eight islands, bearing leis on their necks and clad in elegant fabrics wrapped according to family tradition. They will be decorated with the flowers of Hawaii, and be accompanied by a band, hula halau, equestrian units, and a horse-drawn carriage.
