Starting near Royal Kona Resort at 9 am and ending near West Hawaii Today at noon, the event draws crowds from all over the Aloha State to view flamboyant floral arrangements and ornate traditional Hawaiian garments.

“The Kamehameha parade is a wonderful opportunity to be acquainted with Hawaii’s colorful history. People of the Big Island especially look forward to this day which brings families and communities together in celebration of cultural tradition. The day becomes even more special for Big Island residents as the late King Kamehameha is born in North Kohala,” explained Harold.

The parade brings the promise of a visual feast: regal pa’u riders on horseback represent each of the Aloha State’s eight islands, bearing leis on their necks and clad in elegant fabrics wrapped according to family tradition.
