Renato M. Prestes Named Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year in Agricultural Development and Research

St. Louis, MO, October 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Renato M. Prestes, global health safety and medicine director for Monsanto Company, has been named Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year in Agricultural Development and Research. While inclusion in Cambridge Who’s Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named the Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year. The Cambridge Who’s Who selection committee selects these special honorees based on their accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership and service.

Prestes has extensive background in safety, health and occupational medicine. As the global health safety and medicine director of Monsanto Company, Prestes is responsible for directing development and research programs, managing operations, policies and procedures and assisting with disaster recovery. He also oversees emergency prevention plans and wellness. Monsanto Company is an agricultural company dedicated to providing quality assistance to farmers around the world to help them be successful, produce healthier foods, better animal feeds and more fiber. In doing so, the company hopes to reduce agriculture’s impact on the environment.

When asked what separates him from other professionals in the industry, Prestes states, “I have a lot of patience and a strong desire to be productive. I realize the importance of networking as well.” Mr. Prestes helps others recognize risks in the workplace. He also asserts, “I dedicate 100 percent of my time to safety because I recognize how important safety is in saving lives.” He assists others with understanding their own behaviors in the workplace and then modifying those behaviors both on and off the job.

In 1990, Mr. Prestes received his masters degree in environmental safety from the Centro Universitario de Faculdade de Engenharia Industrial – FEI in Brazil. He is affiliated with industry-related organizations, including the American Society of Safety Engineers and the National Safety Council. Mr. Prestes was also a speaker for an event sponsored by Bio Economic Research Associates. The main topic of the event was avian influenza, and Mr. Prestes spoke specifically about best practices and lessons learned in pandemic and planning preparedness.
