Cambridge Who’s Who Honors Gerhard Muuren for Excellence in Human Resource Solutions

Gerhard Muuren Honored by Cambridge Who’s Who for Excellence in Human Resource Solutions

Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, October 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Gerhard Muuren, human resources manager of Kal Tire, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of human resource solutions.

Having been promoted from human resource generalist to human resources manager in 2005, Muuren is the second person ever to serve in this position at Kal Tire since the company began a human resources initiative six years ago. Muuren became involved in human resources because of his keen interest in the structures of corporate training and support. “I wanted to be in the field of training and organizational behavior, and evaluate how the human factor contributes to the bottom line,” he describes.

Muuren is responsible for training and development, strategic planning and projections, change management, recruitment and retention, payroll, benefits and compensation systems. He would like to shift the perspective of employment at Kal Tire as being a career as opposed to a job. The most rewarding aspect of his role is seeing his initiatives implemented and producing the desired effects.

His greatest accomplishment occurred while working in South Africa. He developed an accelerated management program for previously disadvantaged employees. “All 13 of the first group were promoted to management,” he states. Muuren was recognized with “Achievement of the Year” and “Biggest Single Achievement” awards for his work. Kal Tire is a retailer of tires. The operation has recently expanded to Ontario from the Western provinces. For more information, visit http://www.kaltire.com.

Muuren received a bachelors degree in human resources management, an honors degree in human resources development and a diploma in business management. He holds International Registry of Change Management Practitioners certification. He is a member of the British Columbia Human Resources Management Association and the Canadian Payroll Association.
