SIS Anesthesia™ Goes Live at University of Connecticut Health Center

Atlanta, GA, October 19, 2007 --(PR.com)-- SIS (Surgical Information Systems) announced today the launch of the company’s newest anesthesia module release and its successful implementation at the University of Connecticut Health Center.

SIS 4.7 went live at UConn Health Center on October 15th and contains significant upgrades to SIS Anesthesia, the only anesthesia system functioning as an integrated module of a total perioperative information system. This release features key upgrades to the system’s functionality including enhanced documentation for drug infusions and drug administrations, surgical history information, and time notation utilities that significantly improve ease-of-use. Its integrated database allows for an individualized view of the entire perioperative record for both the anesthesiologist and nursing staff and reflects any changes made to the record in real-time.

Dr. Marc Paradis, an anesthesiologist and associate professor with UConn, said that the release addresses specific needs that until now had been lacking in any anesthesiology system on the market. “SIS Anesthesia allows us to more clearly document on the anesthesia record,” said Paradis. “The whole process is just quicker and easier with this system. It’s clear that a lot of hard work and clinical expertise has gone into the module.”

SIS Anesthesia completely automates the legal anesthesia record. Its intuitive features significantly reduce anesthesia documentation time and errors, capturing all pertinent information including data relating to equipment, supplies, drugs, and personnel associated with a surgical case. Its graphical interface allows anesthesiologists to easily view patient events in real time, and the module includes differentiating features such as clinical charting wizards, pre-populated data fields and drag-and-drop functionality.

“The go live at UConn Health Center is significant because it demonstrates true integration within the OR,” said SIS CEO Ed Daihl. “The integrated database enables the sharing of anesthesia and perioperative information and improves both the speed and safety of patient care in the surgical department.”
