Siren School Brings Back the Social Salon Tradition

Women's wellness organization offers cultural enrichment through social get-togethers.

Long Beach, CA, July 16, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The internet has brought information and merchandise literally to our doorsteps. But what about the dream events we ogle online, nearly jumping out of our skin in gleeful anticipation until we realize the gathering will take place thousands of miles from us, precluding our attendance?

Siren School, “where education is an adventure in self-discovery,” has created a way for women throughout the United States to participate in the organization’s female-centric theme events without leaving their own hometowns, via their budding Salonniere program. The salon tradition enjoyed a centuries-long run and developed a space where women could learn about culture, politics and the arts at a time when women were barred from formal education. And it was in the salon that the fairy tales we know today first took root, as ‘storytelling’ was part of the entertainment shared in popular European salons.

Siren School Headmistress Joy Devivre describes the role of the salon this way: “I’ve always been a fan of the salons of yore. I loved the idea that people could learn about culture, literature, music, you name it, all in the guise of recreational socializing. That to me is time well spent and the sort of get-togethers I have always looked forward to as I feel richer for the experience.”

Two salons have already been established, one in Akron, Ohio run be Bonnie Ramsburg, and the other in San Diego, helmed by Sarah Gates. Their planned activities will include:
· Afternoon Teas – as mixers to meet new members
· Siren Soiree theme parties – with themes such as Genie Dreams, Bollywood Bash, Island Hukilau, Mermaid Moments, Flapper Fete, Courtesanerie CI and more
· Fantasy Fitness Dance Parties and Class Series – dance styles include Bellydance, Bollywood, Polynesian, Charleston, Moulin Rouge, Samba, Flamenco and others
· Mythic Adventure getaways – to Siren School weekend events in their respective areas

The Salonniere program allows women to earn extra income while socializing and includes mentoring opportunities. It is run by Siren School, a company dedicated to helping women discover (or re-discover) their value, beauty and joie de vivre. Additional opportunities include Mythic Adventures themed getaways, Fantasy Fitness ongoing dance class instruction, and Plunder – the student rewards program.
