Rawls McNelis + Mitchell Welcomes Paul T. Walkinshaw

Richmond, VA, July 31, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Rawls McNelis + Mitchell announces the addition of Paul T. Walkinshaw as an attorney with the firm. Mr. Walkinshaw concentrates his practice on appellate and trial court litigation, risk management and general healthcare law. He has prosecuted or defended against appeals in the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, the Virginia Supreme Court, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Virginia Court of Appeals. Mr. Walkinshaw also defends healthcare providers in malpractice litigation in trial courts, and this trial experience makes him particularly effective at identifying appellate issues and defending against efforts to overturn verdicts on appeal.

Mr. Walkinshaw is a graduate of the University of Virginia and The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. Mr. Walkinshaw is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. He has represented a variety of clients, including hospitals, dentists, physicians, physician practice groups, healthcare associations and consumer energy groups. In representing these clients, he has gained experience arguing not only the typical issues seen in malpractice cases (standard of care and medical causation), but also issues involving constitutional law, statutory interpretation, the propriety of administrative agency action, contract formation and the breach of contract, defamation, civil conspiracy, fraud, the illegality defense and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Mr. Walkinshaw has been recognized as one of Virginia's Legal Elite in the specialty of appellate law by Virginia Business magazine. Washington D.C. Super Lawyers Magazine selected Mr. Walkinshaw as a Super Lawyer in the field of appellate litigation for 2014 and Virginia Super Lawyers magazine selected Mr. Walkinshaw as a Super Lawyer in the area of appellate litigation in 2013 and 2014. Virginia Super Lawyers also named him a Rising Star in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 in the area of Medical Malpractice Personal Injury Defense.
