Primavera Residences Developer to Put Up More Green Buildings in CDO

Cagayan de Oro developer Italpinas Euroasian Design and Eco-Development Corp. (ITPI) will put up more green buildings in Northern Mindanao to help the region save on power costs.

Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, August 07, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Property developer Italpinas Euroasian Design and Eco-Development Corp. (ITPI) is putting up more green buildings in Cagayan de Oro to help the region save on power costs.

ITPI chairman and CEO Romolo Nati said that residents can save as much as 32 percent on air-con energy consumption cost.

“People in Mindanao either suffer from the full force and effect of the tropical heat due to brownouts, or the high energy cost of running air-conditioning units,” said Nati, an Italian architect who designed and built his green Primavera Residences condominium in Cagayan de Oro.

“Through our inner courtyard design, the hot air goes up and creates a depression that sucks the cold air outside the building, making the internal temperature cooler,” he said.

With the design, unit owners at Primavera Residences can save on air-con consumption by 32 percent.

“In the Philippines, 60 percent of energy consumption is for air-con use, so through this we can reduce 32 out of 60, which is about 20 to 32 percent less energy,” Nati said.

Atty. Jojo Leviste, president of ITPI, said the recent brownouts in Mindanao underscore the importance of conserving energy.

Leviste teamed up with Nati as they both share the same vision and passion in promoting sustainable development projects in the Philippines.

Mindanao is currently suffering from power outages, with Cagayan de Oro experiencing brownouts that last up to four hours. Primavera Residences will soon be equipped with photovoltaic solar panels on its rooftop to produce its own energy to power the building’s common areas. This will reduce the energy load needed from the power grid.

ITPI’s upcoming new project in Cagayan de Oro will also further help the region lessen energy consumption as it will integrate a smart grid technology into the buildings for better power management.

Primavera Residences is ITPI’s initial green project located in Uptown Cagayan de Oro. It provides residential, commercial and office spaces for purchase and rent. The property recently won a Best Mixed-Use Development in the Philippines award at the 2014-2015 Asia Pacific Property Awards held in Kuala Lumpur.
