Thieme is Taking Over the Publication of the Open Access Journal JBPPNI

New York, NY, June 26, 2014 --(PR.com)-- As of June 2014, Thieme Medical Publishers will become the publisher of the Journal of Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injury (JBPPNI). Previously published by the open access publisher BioMed Central and now in its ninth volume, the journal is an online only, open access journal publishing high quality clinical and research articles in the field of peripheral nerve surgery.

JBPPNI’s Editor-in-Chief, Jörg Bahm MD, PhD, is particularly excited about ushering in a new era for the journal. Dr. Bahm comments: “In the near future, we want to increase the interdisciplinary exchange of clinical and research results in the field of peripheral nerve surgery to improve diagnosis and treatment tools for our patients. As only few colleagues around the world deal regularly with our field, and with the internet becoming an even greater platform for the exchange of medical knowledge, we hope to contribute to a growing fruitful discussion involving more and more peripheral nerve surgeons, neurologists, radiologists and therapists.”

One of the journal’s main goals is to foster interdisciplinary discussions that will generate new ideas and techniques for improved management of peripheral nerve injuries. Thieme’s expertise in related specialties such as neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, wrist surgery, and more will serve to further stimulate the exchange of ideas and clinical research findings and to connect experts in the field. “By providing free access to everybody and with the availability of new and useful information to colleagues all over the world, JBPPNI should help to intensify interdisciplinary exchanges concerning the peripheral nerve,” explains Jörg Bahm, MD, PhD.

The Journal of Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injury is currently indexed in Cases Database, Citebase, DOAJ, Google Scholar, Index Copernicus, OAIster, PubMed, PubMed Central, SCImago, Scirus, Scopus, SOCOLAR, and Zetoc.
