Newport News, VA, October 29, 2007 --(PR.com)-- There's nothing like a good spook to get into the Halloween spirit.

ArcaMax Publishing, a family-friendly news and features publisher, asked its readers to submit their scariest ghost stories. The response so far has totalled more than 60 ghostly encounters.

Imagine being in a strange hotel by yourself, and suddenly waking to see "...the outline of a man...He was tall wearing with a large coat and hat," according to P. Turner, who remembers her sleepless night in an old motel room in Montana. "As soon as I turned the light on, he disappeared." Turner heard dragging sounds outside her room for the rest of the night, and says she didn't stick around the next day to investigate further.

Many of the stories (while still shiver-inducing) were also personal and heartwarming -- including this one from reader M. Baker, whose grandmother was in the hospital when Baker received a final visit:

"I awoke suddenly from an exhausted sleep at the feel of my grandma's kiss on my cheek," Baker writes. "I lay awake, waiting for the phone call from the hospital. Five minutes later, it came. Grandma had died at the exact moment I felt her kiss me. She had come to say good-bye."

These stories and a list of the most famous haunted locations in the United States are available at ArcaMax Publishing's special Halloween section, http://www.arcamax.com/halloween/pk-si-245671/comments . The discussion is still open for reader stories.

"Even if you do not believe ghosts exist, you have to admit these stories are pretty compelling," said Scott Wolf, ArcaMax president & CEO. He added, "We are happy that subscribers are using ArcaMax.com to have fun with Halloween and share their personal experiences with other interested readers."
