Stock Up for Labor Day at the Morton Grove Farmers’ Market Sat 8/30

Morton Grove, IL, August 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Morton Grove Farmers' Market will be open Labor Day weekend!

Saturday, August 30th
Season 5, Week 13

Stock up on meats and veggies for grilling, party snacks, and sweet treats!

The Market is open from 8 am - 12 pm at 6210 Dempster St., Morton Grove

Music: 8-10 am Amadeo String Duo featuring David Caplan and Robert Sanders on the cello and violin, respectively.

"We go to NNHS and are both freshman right now. We won the 2013 talent show. I started playing cello when I was 9, and Robert started playing violin when he was 5. We play classical music at farmers markets. We both live in Skokie." -David Caplan

Music: 10 am - 12 pm Jim Jacobs Combo Tasty jazz for any occasion.

Community Group: MG Board of Environmental Health. The Morton Grove Historical Museum and Education Center will be open from 9-12.

What's In Season?

Sweet corn, tomatoes, peaches, plums, cauliflower, carrots, apples, pears, blueberries, apricots, beets, kale, beans, kohlrabi, onions, lettuce, cabbage, potatoes, green peppers, celery, broccoli, zucchini, turnips, cucumbers, summer squash, radishes, eggplant, herbs, and more.

This Saturday may be the last week for Wright Way Farm's certified organic watermelons. Come early for the best selection!

Sugar Mammas will introduce 2 new tasty additions to their menu. The Cookies and Creme cupcake is a devil's food cake topped with buttercream frosting and Oreo cookie bits! The miniature Oreo cookie placed on the top completes the look and adds to the delicious taste!

Also offered will be individual apple and peach pies made with fruit from the farmers' market!

Cupcakes this week will be Pink Lemonade, Salted Caramel and Vanilla. Quick breads this week will be Zucchini w/ toasted walnuts, Banana w/ chocolate chips and toasted walnuts and Cranberry / Orange. Double chocolate brownies w/ walnuts, sugar cookies and chocolate chippers will also round out the menu.
