The hotel on Mount Charleston partners with local Albertsons in hosting pumpkin carving event for abandoned and neglected youth.

Girls and Boys Town youth were treated to a once in a lifetime pumpkin carving contest and brunch on Saturday, October 20th thanks to the generosity of two local businesses.

Albertsons graciously donated 100 pumpkins and The Hotel on Mount Charleston provided the perfect setting for an event benefiting abandoned and neglected kids in the Las Vegas community.

The pumpkin carving contest and brunch were open to the public and took place outdoors at the Highland Lagoon in the front of the Hotel. The afternoon included prizes for the most creative pumpkin designs and a delectable brunch provided by A Cut Above Restaurant located within The Hotel on Mt. Charleston. A $20.00 donation was suggested for participation in the event. All proceeds went to Girls and Boys Town of Nevada.

“I’ve seen pumpkins before, but this is the first time that I get to carve my very own,” squealed Girls and Boys Town youth, Kevin, age 12.

Over 60 pumpkins were entered into the contest, with four lucky kids coming out victorious with winning designs.

“This is definitely the kind of day that will live in the hearts and minds of our kids for years to come”, said Executive Director Tom Waite. “Thanks to the generosity of these businesses, many of our kids have the opportunity to carve their very first pumpkin today.”

The Hotel on Mt. Charleston – located at 2 Kyle Canyon Rd. – offers a setting unlike any other in Las Vegas. Nestled 6,500 feet above the valley floor, the hotel is located 40 minutes from the Strip within the Toiyabe National Forest.

Girls and Boys Town is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, that has provided help, healing and hope to over 7,500 abandoned, abused and/or neglected children in Southern Nevada since 1991. To learn more, please visit www.girlsandboystownofNevada.org.
