Weld Fixture Business Owners Pedaling Trikes to Florida

President Susan Straley and husband and Founder of Rentapen, a machine tool design and build company located in Waukesha, WI, are pedaling their recumbent tricycles from Rockford, IL to Pensacola, FL. Cruising at a slow speed and enjoying the sights and smells and back roads along the way, this couple is celebrating 38 years of marriage doing what they love to do and sharing the journey with others by writing about it online.

Waukesha, WI, September 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The owners of Waukesha machine tool design and build company, Rentapen Inc. have set out on an adventure. They are riding their recumbent tricycles to Florida.

Founder, George Straley, (66) and Rentapen President, Susan Straley (61) are on an adventure. "There is no perfect time to leave on a long journey like this," said Susan Straley, "But we have great management in place, a super team of employees that are dedicated to doing great work for our customers. We are healthy and able right now... who knows what next year will bring. So we just decided now was the time."

Founded in 1976, Rentapen designs and builds weld and assembly fixtures for its manufacturing customers. Rentapen also is the home of RAPid Tooling Components(tm) (steel shims, blocks, and plates that machine tool designers use in weld and assembly fixtures to reduce costs and increase accuracy). Sometimes the laser cut steel shim packs make up 50% of Rentapen's business.

The couple started the journey on August 16th and are soon to cross the Ohio River into Kentucky. "The hardest part of this journey so far has been deciding to go," said Susan Straley, who also holds the title of Queen of Lean Machine Design at Rentapen. The rest has been easy, she says, even the food poisoning that led her to lay on the side of a busy road unable to get back up and ride the short distance remaining to their motel room.

They have been pacing their journey to deal with the heat by getting their daily rides completed before noon and the hottest part of the day. The Straley's are keeping a journal of their ride on line. "We are having the time of our lives!" said Straley.
