KBA Training New Alliance with Helix Media to Deliver Crisis Communication Training

KBA Training Centre in collaboration with a specialist public and media affairs consultancy shall deliver Crisis Communication Training for the Maritime and Offshore industries

Singapore, Singapore, September 06, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The media – both the traditional means and social media plays an undeniable role in shaping public’s perception. It serves as a double edged sword which can make or break your brand name and if it was mishandled in time of crisis – ‘bad news’ can spread like wildfire. Therefore, it is so critical for organisations to have a crisis management plan in place to handle the press and influence the public opinion. Holding to this belief, KBA Training Centre (KBAT) collaborates with Helix Media Pte Ltd to deliver a Crisis Communication Training on the 30th October 2014 in Singapore.

Organisations often tend to place primary focus on the operational and legal aspects overlooking the communication components when a crisis strikes. To bridge this gap, KBAT seeks to value-add its training offering by partnering with Helix Media to leverage on their expertise in public and media affairs and develop a training programme that aims to enhance the personnel’s communication skills as well as the overall organisation’s communication plan.

The training is a professional development one-day course designed for executives from onshore/offshore management, ship owners, diving company management personnel, operators, managers or communication personnel who may be called upon to deliver key messages to the public. It will be an intensive and interactive training that starts off with the fundamental overview of crisis, skills and strategy tips and training, case studies review and lessons learnt as well as group ‘role-play’ with TV-interview staged.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Helix Media who has extensive experience of any crisis situations in the shipping industry. In times of crisis, we know that any delay in communicating might cause negative speculation and result in social outrage, and is therefore crucial to convey timely information to relevant stakeholders. Ultimately, we aim to educate the importance of being honest, humble and transparent on what has happened, why it happened and the remedies made,” said Mr. Darren Brunton, Managing Director of KBAT.

“Helix Media is delighted to be involved with KBAT, whom we’ve known for some time and have such an impressive reputation in the markets. We look forward to bringing in a training element that complements and enhances their portfolio of courses. A practical, hands-on set of skills and techniques with which companies can equip their front and backline professionals to manage a crisis amid media and public scrutiny, and avoid subsequent reputational disaster,” said Mr. Edward Ion, Managing Partner of Helix Media.
