Hart InterCivic Approved for Installation in Nevada County, CA

Nevada County, California received approval to go forward with the long awaited implementation of the Hart Voting System, by Hart InterCivic, in a letter from California Secretary of State Deborah Bowen to Nevada County Clerk and Recorder, Gregory J. Diaz.

Austin, TX, October 31, 2007 --(PR.com)-- In approving the use of the Hart Voting System in Nevada County, the Secretary of State’s letter says, “The recertification of the Hart InterCivic System 6.2.1 is effective August 3, 2007, and a county that begins using the system in compliance with the conditions imposed by the recertification document attached to it will be in compliance with Elections Code Section 19201. It will take an affirmative action on my - or a future Secretary's - part to withdraw that recertification should there come a time when a determination is made that one or more of the conditions is not being met.”

Mr. Diaz reports that this implementation is consistent with his goals, “Fair voting is the cornerstone of our democracy and nothing is more important than having secure, verifiable, accessible and accurate elections in Nevada County.” Furthermore, Mr. Diaz states, “Nevada County will be using the Hart InterCivic Voting System in the 2008 and all subsequent elections.”

Hart InterCivic’s Senior Vice President of Election Solutions, Phillip Braithwaite, greeted news of the letter from Secretary of State Bowen with enthusiasm, “Hart InterCivic is elated that we have affirmation of our certification in the State of California. We have worked diligently to partner with both the State and our customers, and we look forward to continuing our professional and positive relationships in California. We will remain in compliance with California Elections Code Section 19201. We welcome Nevada County to the Hart family.”

Nevada County will implement Hart InterCivic’s Election Management System suite of software, Ballot Now™ by-mail system, eSlate® with voter verifiable paper audit trail and disabled access for in-person voting, and eScan™ digital precinct scanners for in-person voting.
