Bangkok, Thailand, October 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- SpiceRoads is offering a unique opportunity in February 2015 whereby guests can cycle alongside the legendary Sean Kelly on a cycling tour from Bangkok to Phuket. This 10 day cycling tour is designed for cycling enthusiasts to experience a unique side of Thailand, passing through beautiful scenery and immersing themselves in the distinctive cultures of the region, whilst at the same time allowing guests to spend time with a former professional cyclist.

During the cycling tour, guests will be able to gain valuable experience in road cycling and get trips from the aptly named “hard man of cycling” Sean Kelly. Guests will also hear tales of Sean Kelly’s races against Eddie Merckx, Greg LeMond, Laurent Fignon, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain at the European classic cycling tours and grand tours.

Sean Kelly hails from Ireland and was one of the most successful road cyclists of the 1980s, and one of the finest classic riders of all time. From turning professional in 1977 until his retirement in 1994, he won nine monument classics, and 193 professional races in total. During his career he started in the Tour de France 15 times and wore the maillot vert on four occasions, won Paris-Nice seven years in a row and the first UCI World Cup in 1989. Sean Kelly is still involved in cycling and among other things is a commentator for Eurosport providing coverage of the Tour de France and Sean Kelly has also formed his own cycling team.

Retired from professional cycling since 1994, Kelly nonetheless remains hugely involved in the sport, from his work as a TV commentator for Eurosport covering the Tour de France, to his formation of the Sean Kelly Cycling Team. Kelly is rightly regarded as one of the greatest sportsmen to ever come from Ireland.

The cycling tour from Bangkok to Phuket will be limited to 30 participants and will travel down the spine of Thailand taking in the sights of the East and West coast, before ending the cycling tour at Mai Khao beach in Phuket. Accommodation is carefully selected and the tour will be fully supported by an air-conditioned vehicle. The tour cost is $3,000 USD.
