Kiel North America Premieres New Seat Model for High-Speed Trains and Slider Seats at APTA EXPO in Houston, TX

US-seating specialist introduces wide range of innovative product portfolio, including seat model for high-speed trains, newly developed version of slider seats.

Elkhart, IN, October 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Kiel North America, a trendsetting seat provider to transit systems around the world, announced today that the company will be presenting its new seat model for high-speed trains and a substantially redesigned slider model at the APTA’s EXPO 2014 in Houston, Texas. From October 13-15, visitors of the transportation industry’s premier showcase for new products, services, and technologies will also have the opportunity to see an overview of the company’s bus, coach, and train seating product portfolio at the Kiel Booth #3067.

The German based Kiel Group has been manufacturing bus and train seats for local, regional, and intercity passenger transport for almost 70 years and experienced immense growth globally due to the high demand for seating solutions that meet the most demanding performance requirements. In 2009, the Kiel Group established a US-subsidiary in Elkhart, Indiana, and has been partnering with prominent manufacturers and transportation agencies across North America every since. Recently, Kiel North America has been the recipient of the New Flyer “Gold Delivery Award” for over 100% on-time deliveries, a top-honor awarded to only 25 suppliers in North America.

At the APTA EXPO, Kiel will feature Comfort Line, an extremely sophisticated seat that has been especially developed for high-speed passenger transport. The ergonomically designed back and seat base provide an utmost level of comfort unmatched by most other intercity seating solutions. Individually adjustable back inclinations and seat depths combined with contoured head rests create an inviting rest place for passengers. Top-of-the-line accessories like reading lamps, vanity shelves and other add-on options round off the luxurious travel environment for long-distance travelers.

Kiel will also introduce a thoroughly redesigned and upgraded version of its slider model to incorporate input from coach manufacturers as well as end users. The new Slider ensures quick and easy fitment and can be placed into a secure locking position with a smooth ergonomic movement and self-positions itself with a foot-operated final lock. An additional safety feature is the easy safety lock that is combined with the flip-up cushion movement for a secure fit while in use and is supported by sturdy stainless steel pedestals with provisions for restraint belt fixing. The new Slider will meet the FMVSS 210 test requirements and is available with an optional 3-point seat belt.

Also on exhibit will be an overview of all seating solutions Kiel North America offers for buses, coaches and trains on the local, regional, and intercity level. Visitors will be able to experience Kiel’s broad variety of high-tech, top-quality bus seats for city and commuter buses and coaches, as well as the company’s durable and comfortable seating systems for rail travel. As an added bonus, show attendees can also get on board of one of 95 commuter coaches that Motor Coach Industries (Booth 2837) delivered to Houston Metro recently and that feature Kiel’s Avance 2010 recliner seats.

Thomas Schwank, General Manager of Kiel North America adds that “we are very pleased that we can again present such a well-rounded product portfolio to our customers and partners at this year’s APTA EXPO. In a rapidly changing and continuously evolving transportation landscape Kiel North America places great value on listening to the needs of our clients in order to create top-performing, best-quality seating systems that will provide the highest value.”
