The Propane Education & Research Council is a title sponsor of the 2014 Greenbuild LivingHome featured at the 2014 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in New Orleans, Oct. 22-24. Clean, efficient propane-powered products will be featured in the LEED v4 Platinum home.

Washington, DC, October 19, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Propane-powered systems and appliances will be showcased in the 2014 Greenbuild LivingHome, a demonstration home at the 2014 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in New Orleans, October 22-24. This unique concept home offers a full range of green building techniques and innovations that can be adapted to projects of all kinds.

The Propane Education & Research Council is the title sponsor of the 1,550 square foot, three-bedroom, two-bath modular Greenbuild LivingHome. The home, featuring a propane-powered tankless water heater, oven/range, and backup generator, meets LEED v4 Platinum requirements.

“Many people are unaware that propane is one of the greenest energy sources available when measured by carbon footprint,” said Bridget Kidd, PERC’s director of residential and commercial programs. “By sponsoring the Greenbuild LivingHome, we’re able to showcase propane’s many environmental advantages to residential construction professionals and their customers.”

Attendees are welcome to take free guided tours of the home to learn about the benefits of these products as part of the Propane Energy Pod, a model for new-home construction that merges space heating, water heating, cooking, fireplaces, and clothes drying into a whole-home energy package. Propane Energy Pod homes deliver superior comfort and efficiency compared with all-electric homes. And, using propane instead of electricity in applications such as water heating can reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 50 percent since much of the nation’s electric power is generated by coal- and oil-fired power plants.

The Greenbuild LivingHome, designed and developed by LivingHomes®, features market-ready and replicable design innovations, modular construction systems, and a wide range of certified products selected to meet advanced performance criteria for energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, durability, and materials and resource attributes.

“The Greenbuild LivingHome is designed and built according to very high performance, health, and sustainability standards,” said Peter Goldstone, CEO of Hanley Wood. “The collection of products used in the construction of the home passed a very rigorous selection process. The propane-powered products provided by PERC contributed significantly to the project’s overall success. We are grateful to PERC for its support.”

Representatives from PERC will be available next to the LivingHome at booth #1154 to answer any questions about the benefits of using propane in residential construction. Visitors to the booth will have the opportunity to register to win a new propane-powered grill. Those attendees who are interested in learning more about propane are welcome to attend informative sessions at PERC’s Educational Lab next to the PERC booth.
