The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association Supports Local Shelter.

Rutherfordton, NC, November 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (NCMVA) has awarded a $2,500 Animal Welfare Grant to Rutherford County Animal Control in Rutherfordton. Animal Welfare Grants are given to public and private shelters needing financial assistance for supplies or improvements to animal housing facilities. To date, NCVMA has awarded more than $7,500 to North Carolina shelters.

Rutherford County Animal Control is affiliated with the Community Pet Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting with animal rescues, returns to owners and pet adoptions in Rutherford County. The shelter was able to save over 2,000 pets in 2013 alone, and holds yard sales, food drives, and bingo nights to help raise money for the animals of Rutherford County. They plan to expand their organization with the development of a plot of land in Spindale, enabling them to reach a greater number of animals in need.
