Food Bank of South Jersey Announces Details for Holiday "Turkey Drop"

Pennsauken, NJ, November 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) announced today that its annual turkey drop event will be held on Saturday, November 22, from 8 am to 1 pm, at the organization’s headquarters on 1501 John Tipton Boulevard in Pennsauken, NJ.

The largest emergency food provider serving Camden, Gloucester, Salem, and Burlington counties, FBSJ relies on the drive as an added means to help assure that families in need of assistance are able to enjoy nutritious holiday meals.

Last year, local residents and corporations donated 1500 pounds of food – turkeys as well as canned goods and other items – during the one-day drop-off event. Donations are then fast-tracked to many of the agencies, shelters, and soup kitchens that are part of FBSJ’s distribution network.

FBSJ anticipates that 100-110 volunteers will be on hand to help collect donations at drop-off stations as well as to help load the vehicles of agency partners receiving food which FBSJ has procured for holiday distribution. Among the volunteers will be 10 employees from Mount Laurel-based AnnieMac Home Mortgage. AnnieMac Home Mortgage is also currently conducting a unique fundraising drive that will directly benefit FBSJ. Approximately 400 employees spanning 14 states are participating in a two-month, online giving campaign that concludes December 15, 2014.

Jason Leibowitz, Executive Vice President of Retail Sales at AnnieMac Home Mortgage’s Mount Laurel location, states that the company’s recent connection with FBSJ is a natural fit.

“Both of our missions are really about servicing the broader community and helping to make people more secure,” stated Leibowitz. “It is a wonderfully unifying experience for AnnieMac Home Mortgage to have our employees volunteering at the turkey drop and committing financial support to the Food Bank of South Jersey as well. We look forward to seeing the impact we can have by working with a single purpose.”
