New Snow-Clad Adventure Rally "The Baltic Run" Kicks Off in Time for New Year

Adventure travel company the Travel Scientists launch new winter rally from Krakow to Tallinn as a cure for post-holiday boredom.

Budapest, Hungary, November 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- With a decade of experience and seven successful annual adventures, the Travel Scientists, best known for the iconic Rickshaw Challenge, are launching a brand new rally to stave off the post-festive and holiday blues. The new “drive-what-you-can” rally kicks off from Krakow, Poland on December 29, 2014 and finishes off in Tallinn, Estonia January 6, 2015, crossing through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia on a snow-clad adventure.

Heading across a distance of 2600 km in the middle of winter, the Baltic Run is a challenge that promises to tackle snowy roads, driving across stretches of frozen sea and lakes while taking in sights of nostalgia, the rally promises an adrenaline fuelled cure for the post holiday slump.

Stops on the way include Soviet relics such as Karosta jail and a secret nuclear bunker in Latvia, a visit to a nuclear silo and a night in Hitler’s Eastern Front Military headquarters “Wolf’s Lair” in Poland. The team will spend New Year with an epic party in the Lithuanian spa town of Druskininkai, with a recovery day spent at the baths.

The Baltic Run is a minimal assistance rally, but one encouraging an element of community. The teams are on their own with their trusty vehicle and road book during the day, and meet up to exchange stories at the parties organized on the way.

“We wanted something to get people’s adrenaline going after the holiday,” says organizer Attila Berényi, “After the festive season you just feel bloated, lazy and bored, so we thought that driving off into the snow, exploring a part of Europe we feel is underrated is the ideal way to get rid of that boredom!”

The Travel Scientists, who are dubbed the “world’s most gonzo travel operator” are best known for the Rickshaw Challenge which launched 9 years ago and has been rated as one of the “Top 10 Adventures in the World” by Lonely Planet. After success with their following rallies the Central Asia Rally and the Caucasian Challenge, they decided to look north to the Baltic States for their next mad creation, perpetuating their philosophy that adventure is not dead.
