Imani Lee, Inc. Continues Membership in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)

Imani Lee, Inc. has renewed its corporate membership in the United Nations Global Compact.

San Diego, CA, December 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Imani Lee, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has renewed its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact for 2015.

In January of 2014, Imani Lee, Inc. first announced that it had been selected as a corporate member of the United Nations Global Compact, an initiative intended to link businesses together with the United Nations to work toward a sustainable, ethical global economy, built on the compact's Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption.

The company is focused on a variety of corporate projects meeting the UNGC’s thematic goals, including working with environmentally responsible agricultural corporations such as Calavo Growers, Inc. and The Limoneira Company. Imani Lee also works on human rights related projects, such as its important work with the Kurdistan Regional Government documenting the Kurdish genocide.

In 2013, Imani Lee began the task of translating previously classified, top-secret and secret government documents from Arabic into English related to the chemical attacks on the city of Halabja on March 16, 1988. After 70 days of tireless work on this first of five phases of the larger Documenting the Kurdish Genocide project, the first batch of translated documents were used to sponsor a US congressional bill, H.Res. 422, sponsored by Rep. Chris Van Hollen, (D-Maryland) and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee). A successful vote will declare that the United States officially recognizes the attack as an act of genocide against the Kurdish people.

“Imani Lee is pleased to continue as a corporate member of the United Nations Global Compact,” said Lee E. Martin, CEO of Imani Lee. “The important focus of the UNGC is critical as more businesses continue their expansion into less regulated and underdeveloped international markets. Being able to adhere to, set the standards for, and deliver upon the processes and principals advocated by the UNGC is important for all globally focused corporations.”
