)-- The cosmetic surgeons at NuBody Concepts announce their online consumer guide to further educate men and women on the differences between the various kinds of liposuction now available in the marketplace.
“There are several forms of fat transfer out on the market now. Some work and some do not. It’s a real 'buyer beware' type of situation. Liposuction has been around for many, many years. There are several side effects however with traditional liposuction that gives opportunity for plastic surgeons to offer other forms of lipo that offer less bruising, swelling and are safer to perform. At NuBody Concepts we offer Aqualipo liposuction that uses the power of water to gently flush away unwanted fat. This form of fat removal is proven. Patients can see the fat actually leaving their body. Local anesthesia is used so it’s entirely safer than traditional liposuction. There is less bruising, swelling and patients can resume normal activity immediately after their Aqualipo liposuction procedure. We urge consumers to do their 'homework' before undergoing procedures like Cool Sculpting, Laser Lipo and the newest liposuction on the market called iLipo. These three types of liposuction procedures are not proven to actually remove the fat permanently. Some of these procedures are more painful and very time consuming. The Cool Sculpting for example requires the patient to undergo several sessions due to the nature of the fat removal process. Most cosmetic surgery centers that offer Cool Sculpting have just one machine that can only work on one part of the body at a time so it’s very time consuming for the patient to continuously come back for additional treatments. Some patients have reported there is no real proof that the Cool Sculpting liposuction actually removes the fat. With that procedure the fat cells are frozen then excreted through the body in the patient’s urine so there is some skepticism that Cool Sculpting actually permanently removes the fat,” explains Dr. Trey Emerson, Cosmetic Surgeon at NuBody Concepts.
Emerson further states, “The iLipo procedure is often compared to the Cool Sculpting procedure however it does not show concrete proof of fat removal. Surgeons are relying on low levels of laser energy to break down the stored triglycerides into free fatty acids. The idea behind iLipo is that the body sends these free fatty acids through the lymphatic system to supply the body with energy as when the body is in need of energy in times of caloric scarcity. After the iLipo procedure the patient is required to go back to their cosmetic surgeon for a period of post treatment exercise to confirm the metabolism of the freed fatty acids. There is no real proof of fat removal with this treatment and the patient must go back for their exercise program after the procedure so it requires the patient to spend more time. At NuBody Concepts we recommend patient safety, convenience and procedure effectiveness as the most important factors to consider when choosing a fat removal procedure. If you have to go back for repeat sessions on the same area and there is no visible proof that the fat is actually leaving your body you may want to consider other lipo options.”
