)-- Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls recently purchased a nearly 57,000-square-foot building located at 1901 N. Kingshighway for $1.75 million. The new charter school, which is Missouri’s first all-girls public school, offers families from diverse backgrounds an opportunity for single-sex education. The school plans to open in the fall of 2015.
Hawthorn is a college preparatory middle and high school with a focus on science, technology engineering and math (STEM). Hawthorn is currently enrolling sixth and seventh grade students living in the City of St. Louis for fall 2015.
Hilliker Corporation agent Peter Newton represented the seller, Imagine Schools, and Summit Development agent John Ross represented the buyer, Hawthorn School.
Hawthorn affiliates with the Young Women’s Leadership Network, which supports five all-girls public schools in New York City and 11 affiliate schools around the country. The St. Louis school will serve sixth grade through high school by 2020.
