Ventura, CA, January 22, 2015 --( Want to give your sweetheart something more than a box of chocolates or a dinner out at your neighborhood restaurant for Valentine’s Day? You have a chance to do just that by entering to win a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend getaway in VenturaCountyWest.

The winning couple receives a one-night, Valentine’s Day stay in a suite at the Wyndham Garden Ventura Pierpont Inn. Also included is a special Valentine’s Day murder mystery performance of The Dinner Detective and two “Valentine n’ Wine” weekend wine tasting passes.

To enter, go to the VenturaCountyWest Facebook page, and tell why you and your significant other deserve a romantic weekend in VenturaCountyWest (the cities of Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura). Void where prohibited. One entry per person. You must be 21 to enter. One winner will be chosen from all Facebook entries. The winner will be notified by email and have 72 hours to reply. After 72 hours, another winner will be chosen. No purchase necessary.

A little over an hour northwest of Los Angeles, VenturaCountyWest is a growing wine destination with wineries all within a few miles from each other. Winery tours can be booked through the Ventura County Winery Association. The association’s “Valentine n’ Wine” passports enable wine lovers access to 11 local wineries to sample wine, food and chocolate pairings—good from February 12 through February 16.

After wine tasting, the winning couple can antique shop along Main Street in downtown Ventura or stroll along the beach in Ventura or Oxnard before enjoying The Dinner Detective. The show at the Pierpont Inn combines an interactive mystery-comedy “who done it?” (where guests can play a role) with a four-course meal.

Sunday, February 15, after breakfast at Austen’s in the Pierpont Inn, contest winners can head to the Channel Islands Harbor to view life-size replicas of 18th century American tall ships, then, visit the harbor’s farmers’ market, art gallery and marine emporium before heading home.

“With all that there is to discover in VenturaCountyWest, your Valentine’s Day weekend will be an extra special experience,” says Rebekah Evans, executive director of the Ventura County Lodging Association, which markets the VenturaCountyWest region. “Your sweetheart will never miss that box of chocolates.”
