)-- When the Evanston Levy Senior Center wanted to update their hot water system to make it more energy efficient, they hired F.E. Moran of Northbrook, IL. The energy efficient system will contribute to Evanston, IL’s initiative to be a more sustainable city.
In 2007, the Office of Sustainability in the City of Evanston was established to help reach the goal of environmental sustainability. Through this office, they were able to be one of the first 4-STAR (Sustainability Tools for Assessing and Rating) cities in America.
The Levy Senior Center is a National Senior Center Accredited facility. Only 200 out of 11,000 senior centers in America have this accreditation. The Levy Center provides fitness and enrichment courses, food services, game rooms, grocery shopping assistance, monthly field trips, income tax assistance, and snow shoveling assistance. In addition, they are a City Warming Center, so it was imperative that their hot water system was working properly.
Evanston’s Levy Senior Center chose F.E. Moran to replace the Hot Water Heating System Boiler and pumps. They requested that the system be environmentally friendly and to create a smaller environmental footprint.
