The Texas Wranglers and Easter Seals Central Texas Hold Up the City of Austin

Austin, TX, November 14, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Texas Wranglers are proud to present the 10th Annual City Wide Hold Up. This important fundraising event will be held on November 17, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at major Austin intersections. The Wranglers, a University of Texas service-based organization, will collect donations in shifts throughout the day. Easter Seals Central Texas will use this money to provide outpatient therapeutic services to children and adults with disabilities in Central Texas.

Hundreds of volunteers will man these busy street corners to “hold up” passing motorists for change. Over the past nine years, with the help of over 5,200 volunteers, City Wide Hold Up has raised over $250,000 for Easter Seals. The goal this year is to bring this total closer to $300,000.

“The Texas Wranglers are an invaluable partner organization,” said Easter Seals Central Texas President and CEO Kevin T. Coleman. “We are extremely grateful for their contributions of time and money over the years. Just last year alone, they donated 1,233 hours of their time volunteering with us.”

City Wide Hold Up was the idea of Maurence D. Anderson, a 1996 Wrangler, who passed away before his plan came to fruition. Because of the dedication of his friends and family, the event has grown exponentially in the past decade. The original fundraising goal of $10,000 in the first year has increased to almost five times that much.

“Our members are extremely dedicated to Easter Seals Central Texas and the difference its services make in the community,” said Texas Wranglers President Joel Gross. “We have been fortunate to meet and surpass our set goals every year. This year will be no different.”
