Howard Hertz Named One of the Michigan Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America

Detroit, MI, November 16, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Howard Hertz, co-founder of Bloomfield Hills-based Hertz, Schram P.C. (www.hertzschram.com), was recently recognized for two prestigious legal honors.

For the second consecutive year, Hertz was named one of Michigan’s Super Lawyers by Law & Politics in its 2007 issue of Michigan Super Lawyers® as an Entertainment and Sports Law practitioner. He was also selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America 2008.

The attorneys featured in Michigan Super Lawyers are first selected though a multi-step process. Candidates are nominated through a survey of more than 30,000 attorneys, direct contact with law firms and by reviewing trade journals, periodicals, databases and online sources. A blue ribbon panel of the top attorneys in each respective practice area evaluates the candidates. The final ribbon selection is then made by dividing the candidates by their firm size and selecting the top five percent.

The attorneys featured in Best Lawyers® are selected through a confidential peer-evaluation process consisting of in-depth and open-ended phone interviews and surveys with 16,000 lawyers nationwide.

Hertz formed the law firm of Hertz Schram P.C. with Bradley Schram in 1979. He specializes in entertainment law and is the lead attorney of Hertz Schram’s Entertainment Practice Group and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan Law School.

Hertz graduated from Wayne State University in 1972 with distinction and received his law degree from Wayne State in 1976 and graduated cum laude.

Additionally, the Farmington Hills resident is a member of several professional groups. He serves as president and is on the Board of Directors of the Motor City Music Foundation. In addition, Hertz is a member of the Wayne State University Board of Visitors, Board of Governors of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Chicago Chapter, Michigan Film Advisory Commission, Michigan State Bar Foundation Fellow, International Association of Entertainment Lawyers, and Arts, Communications, Entertainment and Sports Section of the State Bar of Michigan (of which he is a former chairperson). He is also counsel to, and a member of, the Advisory Board of ArtServe Michigan, and is on the Advisory Board for Common Ground Sanctuary.
