Newlyweds Ask for a New Car, One Part at a Time, Using Felicite.com Wedding Registry

Couple breaks down a new Toyota Prius to individual pieces and lists it on their Felicite.com wedding registry so friends and family can contribute to their new car.

Stamford, CT, November 16, 2007 --(PR.com)-- When Adam Matuszeski and Margaret Cooney sat down to plan their gift registry they looked around their shared apartment in the middle of Washington DC, all 500 square feet of it, and decided that what they didn’t need was more stuff. As they told guests on their www.Felicite.com gift registry website, “every nook and cranny is filled with something we own.” But when they thought about what they did need for their start in married life, the answer was obvious. Adam’s 1992 Honda Accord had 250,000 miles on it and was coming to the end of the road so to speak. Living in a busy city, with Margaret back at school for a Master’s Degree, what they really needed was a new car that was small, easy to park and would get great gas mileage. They settled on a Toyota Prius.

These days it is not uncommon for couples to ask for contributions toward a honeymoon, new home or car instead of the more traditional china, silver and kitchen items on their registries. But Adam and Margaret came up with a new and more creative twist than simply asking for cash. They used their Felicite.com gift registry to list each part of the car with a humorous description, allowing their guests to buy everything from the driver’s seat (Let’s be honest here and just call it “Margaret’s seat”) to the AM/FM radio (Ah nehd mah NPR), whatever part the guest could afford or tickled their funny bone.

When asked how they came up with the idea, the couple explained “Margaret’s sister got married 2 years ago and listed different parts of her honeymoon on her gift registry. Her advice was that your guests like to know they have given you something specific so that years later you can look back and say So-and-So gave me that. So that’s how we came up with the idea of breaking the car up into smaller parts.”

Adam and Margaret polled a few of their guests with the idea before they took it live. Several guests were a little taken aback by the idea but most of them were enthusiastic. “We spent a couple of weeks putting it all together – listing the different car parts, finding a picture to go with each part and coming up with cute descriptions. It was a lot of fun. Once our guests saw the registry, even those who had been skeptical thought it was a great idea.”

Implementing their idea was easy with the Felicite.com Gift Registry. Felicite allows registrants to list any items they want, even car parts. Gift givers visit the registry, using a link sent by the registrants, and select the items they want to purchase. They then complete their transaction on Felicite.com’s secure servers. Gift givers can choose to buy an item or contribute any amount to any item on the gift list using Felicite’s patented partial purchase feature (See CNN story). Felicite.com also provides a Guest Book, RSVP system, e-Notification and all the other features of a full-service gift registry. To start your own Felicite gift registry, visit www.Felicite.com and sign up today.

Now that the wedding is over, Adam and Margaret are looking forward to buying their new car. They plan to label each part of the car with the gift giver’s name, snap a picture of themselves with the car and send the picture as a keepsake.
